Composition

Mode of Action
Cefuroxime is in a class of medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics such as cefuroxime will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections.
Benefits
This medicine is used alone or in combination with other medicines for treating bacterial infections. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Cefuroxime kills bacteria thus treats the infection.
Usage
Cefuroxime is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, blood, and lungs (pneumonia). It is also used to prevent infections after surgery.
