Coronavirus disease 2019 COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the first known case was identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The disease has since spread worldwide, leading to an
ongoing pandemic. The corona-like appearance of coronavirus is caused by so-called spike glycoproteins, or peplomers, which are necessary
for the viruses to enter the host cells and infect the host.

Covid-19 is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). COVID-19 affects different people in different ways.

The lungs are the organs most affected by COVID‐19. The virus can also damage the heart and brain, which increases the risk of long-term health problems. In humans, coronavirus cause respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment or hospitalization. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.

Coronavirus Transmission COVID-19 transmits when people breathe in air contaminated by droplets and small airborne particles. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, droplets or tiny particles called aerosols carry the virus into the air from their nose or mouth. Anyone who is within 6 feet of that person can breathe it into their lungs. People remain contagious for up to 20 days, and can spread the virus even if they do not develop any symptoms.
