DARTMET-PG1 & DARTMET-PG2 Tablets are a combination of three anti- diabetic drugs. They work by different mechanisms & control high blood sugar levels when single or dual therapy is not effective.

Metformin: Belongs to a class of drug called as Biguanides. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by decreasing the glucose production by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis in liver. Metformin acts as an insulin sensitizer, enhances insulin sensitivity by increasing the hepatic & peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.

Pioglitazone: Belongs to a class of drug called as Thiazolidinediones. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts as insulin sensitizer. Enhances insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues and liver by activation of PPAR-gamma receptors (Peroxisome proliferator -activated receptor gamma) & improving peripheral uptake and utilization of glucose in muscle and fat, finally decreasing liver glucose production.

Glimepiride: Belongs to a class of drug called as Sulphonylurea. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It acts as insulin secretion enhancer. It works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lowers the blood glucose level.

Lowering of blood glucose levels is an important part of managing diabetes mellitus. If anyone can control the level of glucose it will reduce the risk of getting any of the serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage, eye damage, nerve problems, and loss of limbs. Proper control of diabetes can also reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
