Mode of Action

• Dapagliflozin
  Dapagliflozin belongs to a class of medicines called SGLT2 (sodium glucose transporter 2) inhibitor. SGLT2 channel mainly present in kidney (nephron) responsible for the 90% glucose reabsorption in the body. Dapagliflozin blocks SGLT2 channel & decreases the reabsorption of glucose, increases glucose excretion through urine.
• Metformin
  Belongs to a class of drug called as Biguanides. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by decreasing the glucose production by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis in liver.
• Vildagliptin
  Vildagliptin is a DPP4 Inhibitor which reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver, by raising insulin levels and decreasing the levels of the glucagon (the hormone that increases blood glucose level).

Dapagliflozin is well-tolerated and safe as noted in older patients, patients with poorly controlled diabetes, those with heart failure or CV risk factors. Dapagliflozin also improves glycemic control in patients with poorly controlled T2DM.
