Mode of Action

Vildagliptin
Belongs to a class of drug called as DPP4-inhibitors. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by inhibiting the DPP4 enzyme (Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4). DPP-4 is an enzyme inhibits the incretin effect i.e. (increase insulin release or decrease glucagon release from pancreas after a meal). By inhibiting the DPP4 enzyme Vildaboss lowers the blood glucose level in the body by increasing the amount of insulin or decreasing the amount of glucagon.
Metformin
Belongs to a class of drug called as Biguanides. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by decreasing the glucose production by inhibiting gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis in liver.

Benefits & Usage

Vildagliptin is primarily used to treat type-2 diabetes, especially in persons whose sugar levels are too high and cannot be controlled by dieting and exercising. It is used alone or in combination with other drugs to lower blood sugar levels.
